Jan Barič is a Slovenian Architect, Designer and Maker whose unique timber products ooze elegance and personality. A classy craftsman, Jan’s collection ranges from chairs and tables to birdhouses and bottle openers with each demonstrating his remarkable relationship and understanding of wood - a material his grandfather introduced him to at a young age.
Seemingly no angle/ joint is unachievable...
Jan’s confidence and bravery with timber is evident in the form and make up of his design. Seemingly no angle/ joint is unachievable in order to orchestrate the perfect geometrical marriage of lines and angles - this is especially noticeable in the H-Chair which has a cantilevered element to it, a feature in many of Jan’s pieces.
Develop an idea from pencil to production...
Jan is very much a multi faceted designer and his process involves sketching, 3D modelling and vector planning. These processes each give Jan an opportunity to view a concept from a different perspective and develop an idea from pencil to production.
Plenty to look forward to...
Living in Slovenia he is never far from nature which is one of his biggest sources of inspiration. This abundance of nature has clearly whetted his appetite for designing and making, with Jan admitting he is currently working on ‘2 dining tables, 3 chairs, a couple of coffee tables, an office table and a shoehorn’. Clearly plenty to look forward to from Jan Barič.
