Stephan Schmitz is the German genius behind the rugged, industrial furniture and home decor series under the moniker adorTable.
...a cocktail of concrete creativity...
After bursting onto the instagram scene in 2016, the Mills table among other designs have mixed a cocktail of concrete creativity onto our feeds ever since.
His fascination with the holes, cracks and imperfections at the time have been transferred...
Stephan's concrete curiosity and inspiration stems from a family vacation with his parents and siblings where he recalls the holiday home was made entirely of the robust material. His fascination with the holes, cracks and imperfections at the time have been transferred into his own range and are visible within each and every one of his products.
Whilst concrete takes centre stage, Stephan also combines steel and timber for both structural and aesthetic purposes, and it's this experimentation with different textures and finishes that epitomises the bespoke nature of this useable art.
...straight from the head into the hands...
Stephan admits there is no blueprint for the process - his ideas go ‘straight from the head into the hands’ and if an old school report is anything to go by we can expect more of the same spontaneity from this ‘playful and dreamy’ designer/brand.
